Ty Adams is glad to see heightened awareness of air quality issues and positive outcomes both regionally and nationally. He is a member of A Breath of Fresh Air's Advisory Committee, a Team Coach for ALA's inaugural 2014 ClimbLouisville and assists in a variety of tasks for the October Gala (aka: Go-pher). In his spare time he is a design entrepreneur and managing director of A:KDesign working on fun & innovative products.
Deena Adams is Development Manager for American Lung Association in Kentucky and is a charter member of A Breath of Fresh Air. She served as the group's co-director and from 2009 - 2012 co-chaired BOFA's Big Screen Bash. Deena's experience with pulmonary dysfunction is personal and she hopes to influence positive change in Kentuckiana's air quality and lung health.
Greg Buccola is a practicing structural engineer at Luckett and Farley, where he also serves as the structural services market director. Recently relocating from Southern California, Greg enjoys living in downtown "Possibility City". On weekends Greg enjoys traveling with his wife Valerie, a respiratory therapist at University of Louisvlle Hospital. Greg is Director of Technology for A Breath of Fresh Air. He is also a cancer survivor.
Debbie Burdorf is Director of Corporate Business Development for Semonin Relocation. She volunteered for the 2013 October Gala and was a team caption for the 2014 Stair Climb. Debbie serves as the Co-Chair for the October 2014 Gala. "I have found this group of dedicated volunteers to be a joy to know and have gained far more than I have contributed! The fight for clean air will be an ongoing challenge in our city. This group is making a difference and having lots of fun along the way!"
Tiffany Cardwell is a Talent Management Consultant for Signature HealthCARE. She has been a supporter of the gala for several years and was recently involved with the Fight for Air Climb as a participant the first year and then a volunteer this past year. Tiffany is excited to participate on the BOFA team again this year and is looking forward to another successful gala.
Marilyn is a teacher at heart, and as a Relocation Coordinator at Semonin, loves helping people learn about the city and charm of Louisville. Volunteering at BOFA gives her the opportunity to work with people who are also determined to create a better world for future generations. "The vision of this group of people is amazing, and their passion for both cleaner air and having fun is contagious. They live up to their name: they are a breath of fresh air to our community and to its future."
Peg Darcy is a retired middle school educator. Peg became involved with the Louisville chapter of the American Lung Association when she participated in the first Louisville Fight For Air Stair Climb.
Lyn Drennan holds an MPH from University of Michigan. A former Director of Alumni Relations at Greenhills School in Ann Arbor, Lyn is Co-Director of A Breath of Fresh Air and serves as the October gala's Co-Chair as well as Auction Chair. Lyn also serves on the Asthmapolis-Louisville Project Advisory Board.
Hershel (Ed) Fancher is a professional engineer, who provides both product design and forensic engineering services for his clients. Ed and his wife, Tammy, live in Southern Indiana and enjoy spending time with their two daughters. Both Ed and Tammy have seen the consequences of smoking firsthand and look forward to promoting healthier living.
Sally Gettelfinger was diagnosed with lung cancer and had surgery in August 2013; Six months later she climbed 38 flights to the top of Louisville's National City Tower in just over 16 minutes! As a participant in the American Lung Association's inaugural Fight for Air Climb, this was truly the climb of her life! Sally thanks the American Lung Association for their continued support of cutting edge research in lung cancer treatments.
Rita Hight teaches Language arts in Corydon, Indiana and is the drama director. Performing professionally throughout the Midwest, she also was did a 22 year stint with former Mayor Abramson's "Shows-To-Go." Rita is an audio describer for the Kentucky Center for the Arts and is Vice-President of Hayswood Theatre. Rita is proud to be working with A Breath of Fresh Air for the important causes of clean air and lung health.
Lorraine Hughes is an RN and Instructional Design Consultant at St.Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Lorraine has served as the event photographer and multimedia specialist for Breath of Fresh Air since 2011. Caring for Oncology patients in the past is an inspiration for the work being done with the Breath of Fresh Air and hoping to make a difference in air quality in Southern Indiana and the Louisville Metro area.
International Award Winning Couture Milliner, Owner of Forme Millinery and featured Milliner for the Derby, Jenny makes one-of-a-kind hats using age old techniques of steaming and blocking over antique hat blocks. Jenny has created hats for Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Barbara Corcoran from Shark Tank, and actress Regina Taylor. Jenny is excited to be a part of BOFA and the Big Bash for the American Lung Association. Her first book about Millinery will be published in Spring 2015.
Danette Rhoads is Senior Director, Organizational Development, Talent Management, and Field HR Operations for Papa John's International. She has been a volunteer for the October gala since its inception in 2009. Danette serves on A Breath of Fresh Air's advisory committee, is on the BOFA team for the Fight for Air Walk and is an advisory board member for American Lung Association's Smoke Free Kentucky.
Carol Schwartz is a children's book illustrator with over 50 books to her name. She became involved in A Breathe of Fresh Air through Deena Adams and volunteering at the 2013 Big Screen Bash. Having lost several friends to lung cancer, she is happy to help BOFA.
Marie Smith was born and raised in New York City and is a graduate of Brooklyn College. She worked in the Fashion Industry in NYC for 15 years as a VP of Production. She relocated to Louisville with her husband Doug and three daughters in 2000. Since 2006, she has worked as a full time, Top Producing real estate agent with Semonin Realtors. Marie is passionate about family and leads a healthy, active lifestyle. She is hoping to make a difference by joining this great cause to fight lung disease.
Jenise Wehmiller serves as product owner for the sales department at Samtec, Inc. in New Albany, IN. This is her first year volunteering on the BOFA team and is proud to be part of the sponsorship committee. Jenise is hoping to make a difference by joining this great cause to fight lung disease.
